Hey OGF,
Did an initial interview consultation today with the owner of a struggling machine shop...2hrs later he gave the go-ahead to get started working on his USP for an initial fee of $1,500!
I estimated it should take maybe 8hrs to complete (2hrs of doing the Interview Cash Method questions with him, 2-3hrs of researching the competition, and then 2-3hrs of writing up his USP)
No SEO, no video marketing, nothing to outsource...just keepin' it simple
Just wanted to share that with you guys so you realize business life doesn't have to be difficult!
Cheers,
~Dexx
Congrats on another success Dexx,
They always said 'falling off a log is easy'
Falling off a log = Taking action

WOW, awesome Dexx, congrats
I think to offer USP services is another golden pot out there. Most biz have no or a bad USP.

Great Job Dexx! Now PLEASE tell us how you convinced them that they needed a USP and then how you talked them into paying you $1500 to create it.
Me: "Why should customers buy from you instead of your competition?"
Them: "Because we do a good job, make sure they are satisfied, and we're nice people!"
Me: "..."
Them: "..."
Me: "Uh, yaaaa that's nice...but people expect quality service and products...and they don't care how nice you are *sympathetic sad face* ... you need to be able within 8 - 10 seconds tell someone why they should do business with YOU because of something YOU do that your competition does NOT"
[Insert 5 minute explanation of benefits of USP here]
Me: "So I suggest that before we do anything else, and the best way to start closing more leads, is to develop a USP for your business, which will consist of an Interview (Interview Cash Method) and me researching your competition to see what they are offering customers as well...this will take about 4 weeks to complete"
Them: "How much for that?"
Me: "I usually charge $1,500 - $3,000 for this...but since you won't require too much integration with marketing stuff I'll be able to keep it at $1,500 for you...will that be a problem?"
Them: "No no, money isn't an issue as long as we can get results from it!"
Me: "Alright, well I'm busy wrapping another project right now (my BETA program =P) so we'll meet again in the 2nd week of July and I'll need my cheque ready for then"
Them: "Sounds good"
Voila!

Good stuff Dexx
I guess for plenty of us on here that are new to this offline marketing, it may take a little while to get some experience and gain the confidence to go out and sell like that!
Would you say the best thing to do is provide some more 'standard' services that we are comfortable with (websites, mobile sites, seo etc) and gain more confidence from dealing with these clients or just go out and do it - maybe that way the first few attempts might be tough, but as with most things maybe it will then get easier!
It's a long while since I had to sell myself/my abilities in that sense. I am pretty sure it's something I will be able to do but I think maybe I've spent too long working alone and need to ease my way in by getting out there and providing 'easier' services first lol

I like that. "I will need my check in 2 weeks, so you better have it at the front desk when I come in at that time." lol
Dexx you are the man.
Really clean job you did with that.
Asking right questions makes all the differens im seeing that now.
Thanks for shearing Dexx, I appreciate it.
Not at all, because if you go in with the mindset of "I can sell them a website, or seo, or mobile sites" then you will try and SELL them on buying one of those services from you...
Just go in and ask questions to UNCOVER THE PROBLEMS they are having and then present a SOLUTION that will SOLVE those problems...I don't do anything website/online related until the last portion of my marketing with a business...
