This is an existing computer repair client of mine that calls me for everything. He even had me put together a table saw once. Anyway, he wants a new website and ask if I could do it. I told him I could but had planned to outsource it. I will also offer other services but I need some help with the website first. Is there a list of interview questions for website design customers like the one Dexx created for offline customer? I want to come off as at least having a clue so he'll feel he made a good choice in allowing me to do it.
Thanks in advance for all replies.
Roland

those are great. i will use them too. thank you.
Roland,
Even though those questionnares may seem repetitive, I would do as much as possible during that first meeting to get ALL of the questions answered. I got in the bad habit of skipping some of the questions that didnt seem important, only to go back and call/email the customer the question a few days later. It definitely would have made things easier to get it done all at once!
The one most important question that I've now learned to always ask the client is:
"What is your objective with this website?"
It is to gather leads? make them call you? get them to opt-in to an email list? sell them something? just give them info, like details about the business? The list could go on and on and on.
See, often you'll have one idea and go in that direction, build the site and then that wasn't at all what the client had envisioned that you were going to do.
And BTW, ALWAYS get 1/2 down before you start and don't turn over the site to the client UNTIL you are paid the balance. If you don't do it this way, you will often have to chase them for your money.
