I just wanted to suggest a thread be started about the technical aspects of offline marketing - especially for newbies like me that seem to be full of missing puzzle pieces.
A step by step no fluff approach would be a big plus for big dummies like me. One of the missing pieces for me as far as the tech aspects is optimizing the keywords and meta tags. For example, as a learning exercise I want to help a friend with some much needed SEO of his website. Let me ask my dumb question. I realize I can do much of the Local Google stuff for him myself. But how do I get into his website to change/update his keywords and meta tags? I know by looking at his page source that nothing has been ever done with the keywords so he definitely needs help. Thanks for the answers!

    Hi

Good idea for a thread. There are many bits I get stuck on that take up a disproportionate amount of time.

With regard to your question, either you need to give him the keywords to give to his webmaster or get him to give you the login details for his Cpanel (or whatever he has) and do it from there. If you have little knowledge there, the former is definitely the easier way!

One of my clients built her site with Mr Site. A so-called web person helped her. The site looks good enough, but he had put no key words in at all! Then, when I logged in with her details, I found I couldn't put long tail keywords in - and as our town name has 13 letters and two spaces (and that's before adding her trade descriptors), I couldn't do any of the most obvious.

I like it, even better, if you know of handy resources for the new area, feel free to post it:

i.e. How to transfer Domain Names | How to setup business email accounts through gmail etc.

I'll set it up in the Other Topics section right now
