Has anyone tried Facebook Ads to Generate Clients? [Case Study]

Anyone know of a marketer that's successfully used Facebook Ads/Fan Pages to generate offline clients?

I just recently invested in some fan page building software, so I'm going to try and generate $2,000 (or more) in monthly revenue from just Fan Page profit systems I setup for Offline Clients.

The plan is to start generating leads USING a Facebook Fan Page and Paid Ads (what better way to sell a client the system working then to generate the client using that very system? )

But figured I'd double check to see if someone has already done it so I could "learn from their mistakes" before I do my own attempt.

So...anyone know if one's been successfully done?

I have MANY TIMES and personally I thought it was a HUGE waste of time and money.

The cost of the ads is absurd compared to what I pay for Adwords (I'm really good at Adwords), but worse than that, the conversion rates are TERRIBLE!

There are 2 main reasons that people use the Internet, to get information or to be entertained.

While Facebook is information, I think it's much more of an entertainment outlet.

And while people do attract "Business" on there, it's been my experience that the ads are more of what I call "Interruption Marketing".

It's very difficult to divert a person's attention away from being entertained and get them to focus on "business".

And while it can be done, and they may will even "look at your ad", they are even harder to sell.

By comparison, if someone is on Google searching for something like "offline marketing help" and your ad shows up, then you are not interrupting them, but actually showing them something related to what they ARE looking for.

Now I know that not everyone will agree with my opinions on Facebook advertising, BUT success using Facebook ads has EVERYTHING to do with what you are trying to advertise, and to me unless it's ENTERTAINMENT related broadly speaking, I have not found it to work well at all, even when you HIGHLY TARGET the people being shown the ads.

I'm probably going to do it as a case study to see if I *can* actually generate clients (I have a unique strategy in mind to do this) so we'll see if it works
