Ran with it today.
I got a late start(3pm) but I started! I drove to 3 pizza shops which are about 1-5 minutes from my house. The one shop I stopped at twice, the first time I bought a box and said I'll be back. Then on the second trip I talked to one of the owners but he wasn't the decision maker. He looked at my mockup flyer and really liked the idea, and kept asking questions(which is good).
He did ask "whats in it for him" - I told him the free advertising of your specials on 10-15000 fliers. He said oh, thats right! I asked how many boxes go out of the door and he said around 3-3500 a month.
The other shops I have to stop back at later in the week.

I've been trying to figure out the best/cheapest place to print 8.5x11 flyers for this method. Any suggestions?
Bob,
Check out http://www.gotprint.com they have great prices and qaulity.
I hope this helps,
Martin
I caught up to one of the owners that I've been trying to reach and he said they did "box topper" before and wasn't interested this time. I asked him why it didn't workout last time and he said it was a pain to put fliers on every box, which I can understand that. He went on to say that I could put the fliers on the counter if I'd like. (His greed glands we're tickling him by the 15000 free fliers)
The counter thing would probably work, but that would be poor positioning on my end with the potential advertisers.
He sounds like he's open to new ideas, just not the flyer model. I'll have some other things to approach him with.![]()
Some other advertisng ideas you can offer a pizza shop are:
1) offer to print for free their to-go menus in exchange for letting you place ads in it.
2) offer to print for free their napkins, place pizza shop logo on one side and ads on the other side.
3) look into custom printed pizza boxes and have the ads printed right on the box, so no flyers are needed
4) offer to print for free buy one, get one free pizza discount cards (this is what i do, see below for details)
just a few ideas for you to consider and make money with from a pizza shop.
I hope this helps,
Martin
Martin you have given good advice. This is fact that generally small business owner can start advertising while doing sale like putting offers in their advertising or put small ad on postcard and mail it to targeted market. Peoples read postcards when they are brief.

I wish you the best brother..... I may have to toy around with this idea?
Btw, where did read about the method?
Thanks, its on this website and a few other ones. I actually bought an ebook on it.
Here's the basic model.
1. Find a pizzeria owner that is willing to work with you, and will agree to tape a 8.5x11 flier to every pizza box that goes out of the door - I've been offering 15000 fliers.
2. Contact 10 business's(that are already spending money on advertising) and ask them if they would like to buy an ad that goes on 15000(or however many) fliers that will get distributed from XYZ pizzeria directly to the consumer. $300-270 per ad.
3. Collect money, collect ads, call printer, have fliers printed and then distribute.
The pizzeria owner gets 2 spots on the flier for his offers which all of this is free for him.
Basic math using a minimum of $270.
$270 x 10 = $2700
- $700(printing and shipping)
= $2000 net per pizzeria.
________
Now another spin that can be done is:
With each ad, make it into a coupon for tracking purposes.
You'll want to workout a cut with the advertiser to get paid per coupon redeemed - dollar amount or percentage of sale.
I'm not going to get into detail with this, just use your imagination! I'll just say think groupon.
I always found so many interesting and helpful ideas here on this forum. Thanks for sharing everyone.
