2500 up front 350 per month on going. No more than 7 hours work per month if I do it all myself. If not I might look to some techies on this forum eager for some web work.
I was shooting the bull with a clothing store clerk who turned out to be an owner. She asked what I did for work and I told her about my inhuman level of web prowess (was a little more humble with my wording but not much haha). She was instantly wanting to exchange info. Took me a week to get her on the phone but I kept with it. She told me my fee was too high for her clothing shop but her other business had the budget for it as she had financial backing from an outside investor. So I'm meeting with her and her investor Thursday.
GET OUT OF YOUR HOUSE! Go mingle. There are many ways to get clients but talk to everyone you meet. You never know what they or a friend might need in terms of marketing. It's almost free money to those with the guts to put themselves out there. This deal might not pan out but why would I care when there are 9 zillion other businesses?
btw I had no business cards, did not give her my website, had bedhead, was dressed like an average Joe and business was the last thing on my mind. But when you see the opportunity jump on it and do so with full posture. Accept nothing less than what you want and be willing to walk away. You are the Dr and they are the patient. You could really help someone out.

Way to go!
Small deal, big deal, no difference! At the end of the day it equals money in the bank, a business better off, any even more importantly -- another testimonial to add to your portfolio of future client meetings.
Keep up the great work!

Just got back from the meeting. They are blown away with the value I'm offering. They are acting like I cured world hunger haha. So they said we are good to go. I told them I would send them the paperwork and payment terms and get started as soon as I get paid in full. So first month 2850 up front (which I told them might increase since the project is beyond the scope of what I had quoted earlier) and 350 ongoing unless they want more focus which is extra. I put a 7 hour cap on my 350 monthly workload. On top of that this business sounds like a REALLY solid startup (with good USP and experienced business person starting it) that could be a huge brand. This is a company I want to be a part of.
The funny thing is I beat out a big fancy penthouse office SEO firm that works with large corporations and has a mile long client list. They had the call centers and the presentation on the big projector. I had a clear plan custom tailored to their goals after asking a LOT of questions. The other company offered a canned speech about how great they were. After these business owners went with my SEO they went on and on how much more involved I was in informing them of potential pitfalls and educating them. They were walking on sunshine, convinced that it was fate that they found me. To work with these great people is the best part of all of this.
Call all of your leads and don't give up. These guys said a voicemail that I left her was what made the difference. She thought it was well thought out and informative. They were impressed that even though she didn't call me back when she said she would, and was convinced I would have thought she was a flake, I still called and left a detailed message. I treated her almost like a paying customer. I think just putting that extra little bit of care into this job made it work.
Start wherever you are at now to get that client. Act as if. Walk tall. Don't let ANY excuse allow you to put this off.
