Today i went to a popular hair salon to get a hair cut and the owner was the one who actually cut my hair.
While she was cutting my hair she was talking to me about how her business has been slow and advertising hasn't been working and she needed to get clients in the door.
I told her i was in the marketing biz and told her i might be able to help her. I asked her if she marketed to her past and present clients? She said no, so i gave her my idea.
I told her about my pizza cards and told her i could tie them in with a thank you card campain, where i will send her clients a card thanking them for their business and enclose a pizza card as a thank you gift and asking them to come back soon to get a hair cut or color.
I asked her if that sounded good and she was excited and said lets do it. I told her i would give her each pizza card and write and mail each thank you card for $5 each, she said ok.
She gave me the addresses of 60 clients and wrote me a check for $300.
I just wanted to share my idea.
Marty
i just wanted to update everyone on this post and let you all know that i did mail out the thank you cards with my pizza card enclosed as a gift to the 60 hair salon owners past and present clients on Monday and the owner called me Friday and told me she had already gotten 3 apointments from the thank you cards and she was very pleased. I just thought i would share the progress so far.
Awesome results Ideaman! Keep it up!
Kudos for taking the action, and great result. I think posting results like this really helps people.
Good Job! As I always say, 1/2 the job is just showing up.
Personally I would have suggested that the client's respective hair dresser hand-write and sign a card to go with the pizza card as that would have shown a more sincere appreciation. (If that hair dresser is no longer there then assign the client a new one and have them send it, or the owner could send it). I would also have told the hair dresser to include a call to action, such as: come in and get 10% off or something.
PLUS, by having them do it, you save the time, printing costs, envelope costs and postage.
When someone gives someone something, the receiver will feel an obligation to give something back, in this case, most likely returning to the salon.

Hi Marty,
I purchased your Pizza Card Course today. I'm based in Ireland and I own a print company. I've been looking for something unique that I could use to generate more business and I think your pizza card idea is great.
I've been trying to get in touch with you for a week or so. I'm interested in finding out if you managed to source the 'coupon book' course explained by 'Doug' and his sister on an old Jeff Paul seminar?
Regards
John
John,
I'm happy to hear you are satified with my Pizza Card Profits ebook and that it should help you generate more business.
I never found anyone that had the full coupon book course by Doug and Julie Nielsen or that was willing to sell it, but I would really like to get my hands on it if I can get it at a good price.
I do own Doug and Nielsen nutshell version coupon book business guide that they sold in Small Business Opportunities magazine and it does provide the basic steps of how to start and run a coupon book business and it did help me with some things I needed to know with my pizza discount card business.
All the best,
Martin
