I met with just a few days ago, a fellow who had heard from mutual friends that I was into some "internet stuff" and he wanted to talk to me about building him a website. I agreed to meet with him and setup a meeting where he could give me about 90 minutes of his time (we attend the same church also and spoke in the lobby). He didnt have a website, but knew he needed one and could I help? I said absolutely, Me: "my schedule is full for the next week, how about the end of next week" He: "Okay" I did some very brief homework on his Pool Construction Company, did some very basic keyword research using Market Samurai, and set aside 90 minutes for our meeting. We met this Thursday at 6:30PM, and at 10:30 (4 HOURS LATER), I called it a night and said we should wrap up before the cleaning people throw us out.

They have never owned a website, been in business formally since 1985 when one brother started it, and the other brother joined in 2000. Net profit on a job is about $4,000 and they have a very unique process for installing an inground pool in 2 days start-to-finish. I completed the Questionnaire with him, and he was absolutely blown away - he kept telling me he didnt know what to expect when we met and he brought some pictures and text for his website, and ohmygod this is fantastic, wow I never thought of things that way, this is amazing, wow I am blown away, etc etc.

For anyone who owns a decent-sized pool, you know what a pain it is to open a pool after the winter season and how long and a pain-in-the-tookish it is. Interesting thing to point out was during our conversation, I was able to show him how to add $25,000 a year in PURE PROFIT to his bottom line by doing one small change. He was blown away and his jaw dropped, and he furiously wrote down numbers on his pad and looked up at me after 30 seconds and said "oh my god, you are absolutely right, I never saw that."

The amazing thing about our 4 hour meeting was that 80% of the conversation had nothing to do with the Internet. I looked him square in the eye and said "Mr. Prospect, too often business owners get so involved working in their business, they dont work on their business. That is why I am here."

Yes, I sold the deal. We have a meeting end of next week to discuss his Internet strategy.

As AP said, the only thing holding you back... is YOU.

Wow Genesis, thank you for sharing this story of taking action and seeing results!

This is one of the main reasons why I wanted to create this forum, to show real people getting real results!

It's one thing to see a couple experienced people talking about it, but nothing will motivate the rest of the community (especially those just getting started) like seeing their own peers using the exact same tools and simple strategies to get results!

I hope you continue to update this thread as you progress through the brainstorming and implementation of the strategies you come up with for your client, and also any tips, advice, mistakes that you uncover as you go...that's the best way to learn is by relating your experiences to others

Congrats once again, and keep up the awesome work!

    Cheers,

    ~Dexx

    Hey, good to hear!

Thanks for sharing and, as Dexx says, we look forward to hearing how the story unfurls.

What was that one small thing, or is it top secret?

I would also like to know, what your little "thing" was - would you mind to share it please? Or would it hurt your business to do? If so, let us know and we don't ask again Seriously, would be highly appreciated, thank you! (watching this thread)

Hey Genesis, so what's the latest with the pool company? I know its been a while and you're probably so busy swimming in clients, you haven't had time to come back and update us.
