OK, I have a client and am in the process of promoting his seminars around the country. He has one coming up next weekend and so I decided to do a test and downplay any results as it is so short of time for people to make it. He already sent one out on Monday. A very hands guy.
I outsourced the email for $77 at the WF and after a few phrase tweaks, the client sent it out this morning. Each attendee is worth $295 with me getting 20%.
He then sent me this email:
-----------------------
Just thought you would like to know
The Chicago e-mail that I sent out last Monday had 389 opens with a click rate of 1.3%
Today's thus far has had 136 opens in 4+hours with a click rate of 6.0%
with 1 registration this morning.
----------------------------------------------
This is encouraging because what I have provided is getting better results. Told him the future results will be much better as we build him a targeted list to market to.
My next step is to create information products to attract subscribers and keep him in the TOMA throughout the year so when the seminar comes around again, the response will be much bigger.
I have been able to build some great trust and so have a potential of $20K over the next year.
Hopefully this will encourage other newbies as I have benefited greatly from hearing other similar stories. I will use this thread to continue the saga, whether good or bad, throughout the year.

Met with client to "interview" him for 1 1/2 hours. Used a video and MP3. Was going to outsource the research and writing of content but this guy is very good at explaining what he does I will get it this way.
Have edited the MP3 down and will have it transcribed using someone from ODesk. About 30 minutes will give me around 3500 words to use as an autoresponder series, articles, and an ebook to entice email subscribers. Will use the video for multiple Youtube videos and also content for his email list.
That one email brought in 4 extra clients at $60 each for me.
Client sent out the same email for a different location and the CTR is holding steady at 6% when he alone was getting 1% or so.
He signed and gave me the Marketing Agreement and said the other $500 will come next week as he is changing banks. Hmmm. I know, don't say it. There is also a $1K in services (bartering) since my wife needs what he offers.
Today I asked him to get his website guy to put an opt-in box on the home page and the guy replied that he "is sure he knows how to do it but will have to check and see."
Client sent a draft email to me that he wants to send out announcing a new seminar offering. Told him to let's talk and will write him (outsource) a press release to sound more professional.
This is my first client, so taking it all in stride as the real money is down the road a bit but would really like this to succeed well.

Congrats David, now all you have to do is build a relationship with
your client. The relationship is 100 times better then that 'one time'
payment. They will bring word of mouth customers.
Awesome, David!
Your success is a series of steps which will build into a great relationship... and that is worth far more than gold. Keep your eyes open to more opportunities to help.
Cheers,
Millard
Thanks all. Had the audio transcribed for $20 on ODesk and the client is editing right now as I have asked so his "voice" is what he wants it to be. When finished I just found a WF person who will format it for $45 (he has great samples and reputation).
Got the client's website guy to optimize the meta tags and is now putting an opt-in page with autoresponder to start growing a list. Will give away some content and then start dripping more content each month so when the seminar comes, the people will be more inclined to sign up. Well, that is the goal anyways.
The last email sent out to a generic list had a 9% click through but a low open rate. Hafta work on getting his own list built up of prospects who "know, like, and trust" him.
The good news is the client really likes the progress and has stated "after we have worked together a few months ..." in regards to the content that goes out.
Two other recent success:
1. New prospect has "worn down" his partners (after a few months) and we will meet for an initial meeting. I am changing the name from Marketing Analysis to Opportunity Analysis (HMA talk) as it has a better ring to it. It is an Heating and Air company I met from my network referral group.
2. Have been asked to put on a seminar to help recruit people into the group. I have been working on one about establishing an effective marketing message. This will put me in front of 15 prospects.
Now I need to market that seminar!
These posts serve two purposes:
1. To help others who may be where I am or on their way, and
2. For others to point out any holes I have or provide recommendations for me to do better.
Chime in where you can offer help or need help.

Great work David, keep up the positive momentum! =)
