    Hi Everyone,

Let me state that I'm so excited that I'm posting this standing up! I can't wait to go out tomorrow and sell some more.

I found this site by accident and then took Dexx's suggestion to read the thread at that other site. What a wake up call. Thanks again to Dexx and especially AP for all of their motivation to just go out and sell yourself.

I'm doing a local promotion to have a mom and pop pizza joint enclose a flyer with local companies ad on it. I have a friend who said that a friend of his just opened a car repair shop and he might be interested. I met with the owner and asked a few questions about his advertising efforts and he just kept on going and going about this and that and before I knew it 20 minutes went by before he asked what I could do for his business.

I whipped out a very simple black and white mock up and told him it would be a full color flyer with 3 other ads. He said yes before I told him the cost even. $247 in 20 minutes! He then said he had 2 other friends that would probably sign up also. I see them tomorrow.

3 ads at $247 in 2 two days! 1 more to go. Now all I need is a pizza joint.

Any suggestion on how I should approach the pizza place?

On to the Friction of the day!

Cart before the horse! But congratulations for taking action, and getting some money.

Good luck on the pizzeria end.

I'm going to be doing this one and the hotel one that Don mentioned.

Great job JD! Keep up the good work! Just out of curiosity, what types of businesses did you get to advertise on the flyers? Also, if you wouldn't mind, please post a sample of your ad copy on the forum so everyone can see what you did and give you praises and possible suggestions for your next run.

    JD, well done!

That first cheque you get, take a copy/scan of it, and put it up on your wall - each time you see it you will feel good.

You've done it once and now the rest will roll in.

    Great job Jd.Congratulations.
I was also thinking to try this and i don't have an answer yet to the same question-?? cause there are some BIG issues ...
How I should approach the pizza place?
I can go there and tell them that it's in their benefit to give their customers 1-2 flyers with their menu along with the hot pizza and invoice .
I can tell them that i will offer them for FREE the flyers and i'll show them an example.
BUt what if they don't want that other businesses show up on their flyers?
What if they take the idea and go for themself to contact local businesses to advertise on their flyer?

How much would you charge for 1000 flyers?3-4 sports on them! Any ideas for design?

This idea can be extended on other niches too but the BIG issues remain the same.

Can someone that has this kind of experience can answer and lead us to the right approach?

Thanks for the great ideas around

The majority of them won't have the know-how/interest/time - don't let that concern stop you.

By all means come up with the possible problems, but then work out what answers you would give - and then go and make those vists!

    Cool Re: My 1st Yes

When I got my first client for Local Seo (who is actually my employer) I talked, or tried to talk, with him about what my plans were, in regards to his website and his online marketing.
After about 10 minutes of a me excitedly telling him all of my plans and how I was to accomplish everything, he looked at me and said,
"Dude, you're speaking greek, I don't care what you are doing, or how much it costs. Just do it, I know we need it."

    Hmmm...

I have since stopped discussing anything with him, except to let him know when we hit another 7 pack with our listing.
    And a monthly traffic report.

(or when I need to buy something for the site)

Most business owners don't think about things the way us gorilla marketers do, they have money! And would rather just hire someone to do what they don't know how to.

I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure that is the mark of a smart business man, not knowing how to do every single thing that needs to be done, but having the resources, and motivation, to find and hire people to do it for him.

Here is the final ad below.

Now what I'm going to do is remove the pizza name from the ad, reprint it and go to the next pizza place and say, "You want 2000 of these for free! I'll put your logo and name in there! If he ask about the current ads I just say, "do you know someone who might want to buy an ad instead?

On to my next pizza or sub shop!

Oh, sorry I didn't explain how I got the pizza joint. After I got my 1st customer to agree I went to my brother and told him my idea. So that's how I got the Handyman ad. It's my brother so this will be a gauge to see how the response is. Now I had 2 ads, went home made a quick flyer with a made up pizza joint.

I showed up at the right time! The pizza guy was in a bad mood but this played into my hand. He asked what I wanted and I just gave him a color print out with the two ads and said I would give him 1500 free flyers. He told me don't go away he wanted to show me something. He brought back a pack of cheap peel off stickers with a crappy font and said he just paid big bucks for it. He took one look at my ad and said let's do it. I didn't have to sell him, not only that he recommend a friend two doors down who bought the last ad.

I sold myself cause it was too easy!

I use an old version of Serif PagePlus. I think you can get a free version just search for free serif software. Very easy to use and it creates PDF's of your work.

    Great Job Mister JD.
Question though? What size paper are you using?
Why aren't you doing 12 single ads? Or mix in some double ads on the flier?
    We do 12 singles @ 290.
    Just curious.

Great job! Now that's implementing you are doing what 95% of the population isn't doing
and that's get out the door and collect checks.
Congrat's and Yes go celebrate with some beer. : ) LOL

    JD,

Great looking flyer. So where did you get the printing done and how much did that cost. Plus, if you sent it off, how long before you got it back?

    Thanks!
