However, I really dislike the whole process of getting new clients, so I'm looking for some people that have existing clients that we could offer this service to, or people that can get new clients that we could offer this service to.

To show you that I'm the real deal, I'll do the 1st one for you for free (you can keep the profits from the sale to your client).

Recap... you have or can get clients... I do the work that puts them at the top of Google Places for their industry in their cities (most often in the "A" spot)... we split profits 50/50.

PM me if you're interested. (Please don't contact me about getting affiliate sites or anything other than a legitimate business ranked.)
Do you still offer this ?. Sorry not read the whole thread. You can em me spainops@yahoo.co.uk

How much is the coaching program? How much you charge if I outsource it? How long does it take to get the ranking on the map? How many hours I have to put in to get it? Can I get keyword like "Web Design Phoenix " on the map?

    Hello,
I am also interested and can't PM. Is your system still producing same results? Is this coaching still available?

Has anyone heard from this Jeff guy? I paid him $300 to place my business on page #1 of Google places with a 90 day guarantee. Well he couldn't do it and didn't really do anything. Now he won't give me my money back. He actually told me he mailed me a check twice now. Then he told me he lied and doesn't have the money. I just hope no one else has been taken by him. I guess I'll have to take legal action. I don't want to but he is leaving me no choice. Basically he just stole $300 from me. Anyway beware of him, he's not even responding to my emails anymore.

    Thank You,
    Jason Hatchett

Jason, I've replied to your emails, including the last one where we agreed on a repayment plan. I also explained why your listing hasn't reached the first page yet because you were using the same phone # and address on multiple listings, etc but that's another story. I'm not out to rip you off. Believe me, if I had it in full I would've repaid you already. Times are beyond tough right now, and if you must know, I'm living out of a car trying to get things back on track. I didn't anticipate things getting this bad, but they have.

I appreciate your patience, but I have replied to your emails and as far as I knew we were working this out.

    Hello Jason,
I think there are some lessons in your message to be learned by the community here. The biggest lesson is that Jeff should not have committed to a first page ranking on Google Places, especially in a competitive market like "used cars in Spokane, WA" and without analyzing the real assets you had to work with. Not sure if I agree with you calling him out on this forum regarding a business transaction, however, since you did, maybe we can use this topic for sincerely helping your Places listing and online business.

I always liked this thread Jeff started and frankly don't want to see it die. I wish Jeff the best and hope he stays positive in the face of adversity.

I looked at your Places page and this is a very "difficult" listing to rank for a lot of reasons...

    http://maps.google.com/maps/place?ci...n=0,0&t=h&z=16

    1. It's difficult to build citations when the listing address is a home address and not a real used car dealer. Seems like this is a virtual car lot and being used to promote your car dealer advertising directory. Directories are extremely lucrative when set-up right, however, they need content to interest visitors. I would recommend looking at a new approach which allows consumers to add their listings for free and then upsell the featured listings spots and ad space. A good template to start with would be: http://classifiedstheme.com/. I see the categories being the various car manufacturers, for example, "Honda". In the right market you could start you own little AutoTrader by driving traffic from CraigsList or other online classifieds over to your directory. Search rankings will also be easier if you focus on niche long tail keywords like "Used Honda Accord in Spokane" - which could be done for each listing and then backlinked on CraigsList and other online classifieds.

    2. If Jeff's statement regarding using the same phone number and address on multiple listings, I would assume your fake listings got wiped out in the latest Google changes (started Jan 18, 2010). The surviving listing may have a chance as long as Google doesn't look closely at the map but you'll need to quickly build credibility with more business directory listings.

    3. Google is now merging Places results and website results, making the on-page and off-page optimization of the website just as important, if not more important, than the Places page. SpokaneCars.org in it's current form doesn't stand a chance against it's competitors...too little relevant content and too few backlinks. The site content needs to be expanded to gain more authority and steady link building should be applied.

    4. Your Places competitors in the "used car dealer Spokane" market have many citations in the "More About This Place" section and over 20 reviews. The top Places competitor has 72 inbound links to their website, 57 citations and 21 reviews. I would urge you to look into a service like UBL.org as a way to build citations and backlinks over the next few months. HINT: UBL will call to verify the listing and you'll need to answer the phone with the business name in your listing and location (city, state). Also set-up your voice mail with the business name and location in case you don't answer. After verification you can take off the voice mail.

With a little effort I think you could turn this model into a revenue generator and gain access to a pipeline of dealerships who need more marketing services.

I would steer away from Google Places because your dealership is virtual and focus on a classified model to get both organic website traffic through long tail keywords and classified listing traffic.

If anyone else has suggestions for putting Jason on the right track, please chime in.

Maybe we can provide $300 worth of consulting to Jason and offset the money Jeff is trying to pay back

    Brett

Congrats on your discovery Jeff. Why not turn it into an information product?

That's exactly what I was thinking. From his posts, he's hurting for money - and I certainly need information on how to properly use Places....as do thousands of others.
    Seems natural.

The problem is he can't do it. He guaranteed top placement to me, then couldn't deliver and promised me a full refund. He paid me back $100 of the $300 I paid him and that's the last I've heard from him. Apparently his knowledge doesn't work. I'm still waiting for the rest of my money.
